I was just taking a break from writing an article on Doubt and the Creative Psyche when this this quote from @SimonSinek popped up in my feed…

It struck me that you could easily replace 'geniuses' with 'creatives'. A statement sure to embarrass every creative person I know. And therein lies my point. The creative psyche is innately aware that it doesn't know everything. And never will. The creative lives with sensory overload, not the calculated self-satisfaction of an 'expert'. Too many ideas, colours, sounds. A stream of unruly ideas. Self doubt. Where to start? When to finish? Very, very rarely is a piece of work 'the definitive answer' at best it's right for the time. My work as a coach is never to judge, hasten or chide, but to help define a goal, co-create structure, and give just enough support to hear a modest exhalation of achievement between one idea and the next.
